Alicia Squires serves as the FIPS Security Industry Principal on AWS’s Cryptography team, where she brings over 25 years of deep expertise in security certification and compliance. Alicia specializes in international certification and compliance policy and strategy, cryptographic protocol testing, Common Criteria, FIPS 140, FedRAMP, secure protocols, networking, and the related US and international regulatory requirements. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively on the evaluation, testing, and certification of security technologies and cryptographic implementations. At AWS, she applies this experience to cryptographic security and compliance, helping address the evolving certification requirements of cloud technologies and services.
Prior to AWS, Alicia spent 15 years at Cisco, where she served as Senior Manager of the Global Certifications Team and as a Computer Security Engineer focused on FIPS and Common Criteria.
Alicia has served as Steering Committee member of the Common Module Users Forum (CMUF) since October 2024. The CMUF aims to facilitate the communications among crypto module and algorithm developers, vendors, test labs and other interested parties, and the various national, international, and multi-lateral organizational committees, government agencies, and policy makers.
