Dr. Marcos Portnoi is an Information Security Engineer and serves as the Lab Director and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at atsec information security in Austin, Texas. With extensive expertise in cryptography, network security, and communication protocols, he acts as a Subject Matter Expert overseeing FIPS 140-3 validations for cryptographic products, Common Criteria evaluations, and entropy source validations.
Dr. Portnoi holds a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Delaware, where he contributed as a Research Scientist and Instructor. He earned his Master’s in Computer Science and B.S. in Electronics Engineering from Universidade Salvador, where he previously taught as an Assistant Professor. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Portnoi holds multiple patents in shared secret provisioning and device activation mechanisms, and has authored publications on network performance, anomaly detection and authentication protocols.
